Speaker Spiritual Growth Guide
The first time I remember being a visionary woman was when I was 13 years old. I was attending Catechism classes, and they were teaching a model that didn’t make sense to me. I decided right then and there that I wouldn’t buy into paradigms that didn’t fit.
Fast forward to age 40, when I was Director of Expressive Therapies at a community mental health center, I saw my colleagues struggling with all of the rapid changes that were happening. They felt overwhelmed and burned out. They needed a constructive way to process what they were going through.
So, I developed and implemented a program to help them bring their spirituality into the workplace. They had a safe space to talk about their struggles. And they were invited to tap into their creativity to come up with innovative solutions.
After a few years, I became licensed as a professional counselor and began working in community mental health centers.
I soon realized I was expected to buy into a “superhero” paradigm that placed, in my opinion, unhealthy and unrealistic productivity expectations on the therapists who provided the services. I was told there was something wrong with me because I couldn’t meet the expectations, and threatened with disciplinary action and termination if I didn’t comply.
Using my visionary skills, I developed a model where I could meet the expectations in a way that felt healthier and more realistic. But management wouldn’t buy into it because it wasn’t their idea. My heart went out to my colleagues who were expected to continue giving and giving, even at the cost to their own well-being.
I began studying Compassion Fatigue and developing programming around that. When I still couldn’t meet the organizational expectations and show up the way that I wanted to in the workplace, I decided to create a different model. I founded my company, Wild Divine Coaching and Retreats, where I now offer virtual and onsite 1:1 coaching, retreats for groups and individuals, and team building experiences.
I love showing visionaries who’ve lost their way how to get re-connected with their passion in their work as change-makers so they KNOW they are making the kind of impact that they’re meant to.
